Fresh Clean Scents from By Rosie Jane

I’m going, to be honest right up front that I am not a fragrance expert by any means, but I found a fragrance company that I’ve really enjoyed and want to share with you guys — so bear with me as I try to do my best to describe how beautiful the products are from a brand called By/ Rosie Jane.

About the Brand

By Rosie Jane is a clean beauty brand you can find a few places like Sephora, Anthropologie, and Amazon.  They focus on a smaller collection of scented products like perfumes, body wash, oils, and candles using only essential oils, absolutes, nature identicals & fragrance oils.  If you’re wondering what that even means — I was wondering too. I haven’t looked much into how fragrances are designed but being curious about the brand, I had to look up what some of this meant.

An absolute in the fragrance world is the most concentrated version of a scent. It’s different from an essential oil in that it may also contain colorants, waxes, or other components from the plant it was extracted from. Essential oils will have a less potent scent than an absolute, and thinner consistency.

A nature-identical is a synthetic ingredient that is modeled after something in well, nature. The “original” source found in nature may be hard to produce or retrieve, costly, or even difficult to work with, within a formula, so synthetic “copies” are made to replace them.

I personally have very little issue with fragrance in products, but there are some instances where it can create issues for me. I try to avoid fragrance in facial products but I am a sucker for anything that’s going to make me smell good on a date. And honestly, it’s been a LONG time since I purchased body fragrances — By Rosie Jane is the first in about six years or so!

Perfume Discovery set

After doing much research on the Sephora site, I decided to try their Mini Perfume Discovery set. (Sephora) (anthropologie) I wasn’t really sure what I wanted, and this discovery kit has seven beautifully descriptive scents that I thought would be a good place to start. Each fragrance comes in one of those little spritzer tubes and I’d say you get more than enough to really get a feel for each scent.

Out of seven scents, I liked five and fell in love with Madie, which reminds me of smells I remember from visiting Hawaii. When you exit the airport and start breathing in that fresh air and catch a whiff of flowers. Like that. But even better because I’m terrible at describing scents! By Rosie Jane describes it as jasmine, sea spray, and vanilla; it truly is a Hawaiian beach in a bottle. Purchase at Sephora  or Anthropologie

It’s my birthday real soon, so I intend on getting a full-sized bottle of Madie Eau de Parfum or the perfume oil. I have a few days to figure that out.  (UPDATE: I bought the perfume and body oil by the time this post went live!)

Body Products

The brand was kind enough to gift me some items from their body products so I was able to try out their body oil and body wash in the scent, Wake The F+ck Up — which is truly a pick-me-up for sluggish mornings.

This scent is not available in perfume and is only available in their body products. It’s an uplifting blend containing eucalyptus, lemon verbena, grapefruit, and geranium. I can detect the eucalyptus and lemon quite well. I’m not sure I can identify the grapefruit and geranium but the blend is genius for those days when you need a cup of coffee before having a cup of coffee.

The packaging is quite luxe for bath products. The body wash is housed in a glass bottle with a pump. I am a little nervous I will be butterfingers one day and drop it so I am super careful taking it out of my shower caddy when I use it. They do note on their site that they made their glass extra thick to withstand a fall…but it still makes me nervous. The wash includes organic white tea extract, pine bark extract, and cocoa to improve circulation, support collagen, and to hydrate and soothe the skin. The pump works nicely and distributes easily onto my shower poof for a super bubbly wash.

They also sent me their body oil in the same scent. I love adding some drops of this to my body moisturizer since we’re entering scaly leg season and oils help me get through the Winter without dry, tight skin. Coconut Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, and Olive oil sink deep into the skin without feely heavy or occlusive for smooth, moisturized skin. I would like to get the body oil in Madie too because it will prolong the scent of the fragrance too!

Final Thoughts

I’ve very happy with my By Rosie Jane products! While I probably won’t buy the body wash all the time, it’s a very nice treat to have one match a fragrance you love for special days. And the perfume is a nice addition now that my husband I am going out more often. The body oil is nice for me year-round. And now that I also have the Madie version, I feel delicious all day long! I love that I really enjoyed several of their fragrances which means I’ll want to go back and get other scents I liked in full size.

  1. I’m a fragrance fiend so I love to hear about new brands like By Rosie Jane. Discovery sets are the best way to discover scents that really work for us. Next time I am at Sephora, I will take a look. The name of the body wash that you got cracks me up, and I love your description!
