Today, I want to share another deodorant that should be on your radar if you prefer deodorants over antiperspirants. By Rosie Jane is a brand that I quickly fell in love with last year. I discovered them in my local Sephora and purchased a discovery set of fragrances — something I hadn’t purchased in ages. The scent family won me over with almost every single scent which led me to buy the body washes, body oils and a larger bottle of perfume.

About By Rosie Jane

By Rosie Jane is considered a “Clean At Sephora” brand and is vegan and cruelty-free. They use no phthalates in fragrancing their products and avoid single-use plastics (everything is housed in glass).

A few months back, By Rosie Jane launched their new liquid spray deodorant in two of their classic scents, Wake The F*ck Up, and Calm The F*ck Down. I suspect all the fragrances that BRJ carries will eventually turn into deodorants as well as time goes on.

The Benefits

I enjoy having a spray version even though I mostly use sticks. The benefit of a spray over a stick is that there is less chance of residue forming on clothes which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I hate when my clothes are ruined and while it’s not the biggest deal, I’d rather see nothing in my armpit versus little balls of deodorant flaking about.

There is also the benefit of allowing your body to sweat as it naturally does, but without the added worry of being smelly. You can also use this spray all over your body externally — because we all know our underarms aren’t the only place where we can develop an odor.

I usually use lume cream deodorant or Cleo & Coco body powder for other body parts but I do like that there is no residue to worry about melting into clothes and becoming noticeable.

The Scent

The Wake The F*ck Up is a scent different from most I would use. Honestly, I’m more of a coconut vanilla girl but I gave this one ample time to test.  Wake The F*ck Up smells like lemon verbena, grapefruit and eucalyptus. The lemon in this powerful; I smell a hint of eucalyptus but don’t smell grapefruit to me. What I can tell you is that it is a very uplifting citrus scent and absolutely has the power to wake up the senses!

The Ingredients

The ingredients listed in the deodorant lead me to believe that it kills bacteria (bacteria on the skin is what makes the stinky smells) with denatured alcohol. Witch hazel lowers the pH of the skin making it harder for odor-causing bacteria to form. The essential oils in this act as fragrance. Glycerin and aloe are in there too and I suspect to offset any dryness caused by the alcohol.

Final Thoughts

With that, I really do hope that they come out with deodorants to match the rest of their scents. Truly, if you have time, go into a Sephora and smell a couple of their perfumes. SO pretty! The glass bottle makes me nervous to bring it with me anywhere, but I suppose if you know you aren’t clumsy you could stash this in your bag. Remember, it’s a 2oz glass bottle!

The By Rosie Jane deodorants are only available on their site and Sephora. Each costs $15 and has refill options available in larger glass bottles to decant into the small ones t times over. The refill bottles costs $52.

  1. I only use natural deodorants, and I will have to check out their products. I am a big fan of Lemon Verbena, but I think that I would really have to smell this one first. Thank you for introducing me to this! I love that they have a refillable bottle and that they sell refills. This is the type of sustainability that more companies really need to embrace!
