I feel like haven’t talked about First Aid Beauty in a while now and was so pleased to see they had a bunch of new products that were released in the past year. I was already a fan of their niacinamide eye cream, but now they have a new hydrating one that features hyaluronic acid. They also came out with a firming body cream (I haven’t tried), as well as some incredibly helpful ingrown hair pads! But today I’m going to share a product that I would consider for repurchase, and that’s their Cleaning Oil + Makeup remover.
I think I started wearing more makeup in the last 1-2 years which means my usage of cleansing balms and oils has gone up. I’ve sampled a few recently that were…just okay. I don’t bother sharing them because if they can’t do the job to their full extent, I usually end up letting them collect dust in a beauty cabinet until I do a clean-out.
First Aid Beauty Favorites
When I saw that one of my favorite brands had come out with a new cleansing oil I jumped at the opportunity to give it a test. First Aid Beauty makes some really great products that I always go back to, like their Pure Skin Face Cleanser which gets all my makeup off with ease. Their collagen cream which feels fluffy to the touch is another favorite, along with their Hydrating Serum and Ultra Repair Cream! They also used to have a concealer that was my favorite but was discontinued (boo).
Product Details
FAB’s cleansing oil is colorless, odorless, and plant-based. The formula looks like a clear, liquidy gel that’s dispensed from a pump top bottle, and is said to be suitable for all skin types. My go-to cleansing balm is Farmacy Green Clean. It has been my favorite choice for many years and for good reason — it works incredibly well!. I wear Beautycounter Think Big Mascara and that mascara is pretty budge-proof on me. It’s also become the deciding factor on if I’ll continue with a double cleanse product or not.
Will it remove Beautycounter’s Think Big Mascara? Or not? If it doesn’t, well, sayonara. If it does, I was going to celebrate because this is a very difficult mascara to get off! LOL
My Experience
My first attempt to cleanse with this oil was mostly successful. I had on a full face of makeup from shooting earlier in the day and was able to get everything off except a teensy bit of mascara left under my eyes. I was sad at first until I saw the residue come off pretty quickly with the help of some cotton swabs.
My next couple of times were 100% successful. I took a bit more time to massage the cleansing oil in the eye area before emulsifying it with water. Mascara gone, foundation gone — my face was clean!
I still cleanse with a traditional cleanser afterward — I could never just rely on the first step! Have you ever wiped your face down with toner after cleansing? And still, found foundation or mascara? Doing so tells me if I did a good enough job cleaning my face or not, and has made double cleansing a pretty standard routine for me.
My skin feels nice afterward, but as I said, I do still follow with a traditional foaming cleanser to get every last bit off. You do get some foaming action with this cleansing oil when it emulsifies makeup but it’s minimal.
Things To Think About
I think the most important things to note are: 1. It gets a very tough mascara off easily. And 2. It leaves my skin feeling comfortable afterward. No stinging, irritation, or tightness.
I suspect this bottle to last me a while. I think because it’s a pump top it will control the amount I use better than when I scoop out of a jar of cleansing balm.
I find the price point of this product decent. It’s not luxury pricing, nor is it drugstore, but right in the middle there. Very similar in pricing to Farmacy’s Cleansing Balm, actually. I think the deciding factor here is do you want something that’s an oil? Or a balm? Do you need absolutely no fragrance? Or enjoy a little scent?

I’m using FAB’s eye cream now, and I love it. And I’m also a big fan of two of their cleansers, so I have a strong feeling, I would love this one too!
This sounds perfect for me. I use a cleansing oil every single day, and this one sounds worth trying! Thanks for this informative review, Claudia.
