I’ve been wondering if this brand would come out with another complexion product and I’m so glad they did! I’ve been trying out many products from Patrick Ta this year and I’d say almost all are an absolute win.  Today, we get to look at their latest release, their Creme Foundation & Finishing Powder Duo

If you haven’t already seen my videos on their blush duo, bronzer duo or face gloss, you can view those after reading this post!

A New Product

The creme foundation is an excellent addition to their product lineup. All of Patrick Ta Beauty products will make you say wow with their reflective packaging and their performance thus far in my experience has been spectacular.

Patrick Ta Beauty Creme Foundation & Finishing powder (wow, that’s a mouthful, lol) is designed to produce a natural finish with medium coverage and includes a satin finish powder. I prefer dewy to natural over matte any day so this appealed to me.

The details

There are 24 shades to choose from with various undertones. I’ll be honest, I was nervous to choose a color because I normally go with whatever light-medium neutral is– but this line did not have  l/m neutral – so I was frozen. I took the shade test both on their site as well as Sephora, and settled on shade Light 1 (golden neutral). On the screen, it looked a little light but figured we are moving into Fall/Winter soon and if it’s off it might work in a few months!

The packaging as I said before is stunning. All rose gold mirror metallic compacts that make my eyes big and wide. Not only is it pretty, but I love the satisfying click of closing it. It also has a mirror but I never use them.

I always apply my foundation in one of two ways — either with my fingers or two of my favorite brushes. The first is my It Cosmetics Heavenly Skin Skin Perfecting Brush #702 or BK Beauty Contour Foundation Brush #101

The Foundation

This foundation does apply like a dream over cleansed and prepped skin. I don’t use primers but I do prep my skin with serums, moisturizer, and sunscreen for a hydrated base. It really feels weightless and my first application was using my cell phone as a mirror to see how it came out. To be honest, at first, I wasn’t impressed. My skin looked very textured but I discovered that better lighting showed me a more blurred and smoothed complexion. It also looked too light for my skin. I had picked the wrong color using both Sephoras and their own shade matcher. Such a bummer — but it will work closer to December. I wore two layers and did need concealer for red blemishes that showed through and for my under eyes. Overall, I do like how it looks on my skin but I do wish it concealed a bit better for those problem areas. Dried flaky healing breakouts aren’t really a good mix for this foundation.

The Powder

The powder is something I won’t use much of. My face already leans dry so I can only use it a little bit to dust around my under eyes and nose. I demonstrated in my video how it cut shine down a little on my nose when used.

Final Thoughts

The price is on par with what I would spend for a foundation ($52) however since I don’t really need the powder too I’d rather opt for other options when this runs out. The foundation is beautiful but I do think it would be better suited for someone oily. I think I’ll need to prep my skin with more moisturizing products using this on and see how it goes in the winter when I use more rich creams and oils.
