Lightweight Foundation Options for Spring

lightweight foundation options for Spring by iliketotalkblog

I’m not sure why, but Winter was the season for me to try medium to full coverage foundations and I’ve been itching to get back to more lightweight foundations options for Spring. In short, I want something easy and quick to apply on the regular. Full coverage has been feeling a bit “masky” so I’m ready to show my skin a little more.

I had a few suggestions from some other beauty lovers that I’ll have to explore later on when the budget allows but I found three great options to get you guys started off with! I’m really excited to share this with you guys because I do think all three are very different, but each have their own benefits and work great on my skin.

lightweight foundation options for Spring by iliketotalkblog - Pixi H20 Skintint

Pixi Beauty H2O Skin Tint comes in six shades and can usually be found at Target. This was the first one that I tried and loved the hydrating “wet” feel of this during application.  I found that this offered more color/coverage than most products labeled as a tint which was a plus for me. I wanted something to even out skin tone and hide slight imperfection and this did the job. I found that this worked best when I used water-based serums underneath instead of a facial oil and leaves my skin with a hydrated, almost satin-line finish with some blurring benefits. I do use my Colorescience Brush on sunscreen to matte some areas a bit, but I do like that hydrated, fresh look on my skin. I chose shade “warm” which doesn’t sound right to me because I never choose warm shades, but it blended perfectly and I think it will carry my into Summer just fine. I do think this should come in a slightly bigger tube but I’m very happy to have this one in rotation.

$24 each, 6 shades available, water resistant and can be found at target or PixiBeauty.com

lightweight foundation options for Spring by iliketotalkblog - colorescience tint du soleil

Colorescience Tint Du Soleil SPF 30 Whipped Foundation comes in four shades and can be found on their website. While I was weary of having fewer shade options to choose from, the medium shade was a perfect match for my skin. This has a very different feel than the H20 Skin Tint in that it truly has that whipped silicone feel to it.  I found that this did a very good job of blurring pores and offered a satisfactory amount of coverage for my slightly freckled and sun-damaged skin. One pump gives you an ample amount of product, so pump it slowly and spread it out with your hands. I really like the fact that Colorescience always has added benefits to their products like mineral-based sunscreens, peptides to improve skin texture, and ceramides and lipids for a healthy, hydrated look. I find this to be more matte in application than the H20 Skin Tint if that’s your thing. Colorescience is probably the most “luxe” option, but if you like those added skincare benefits this brand is well worth the price tag.

$55 each, 4 shades available, water resistant and can be found at colorescience.com or amazon.com

lightweight foundation options for Spring by iliketotalkblog - Urban Decay naked Skin One and Done

Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done comes in six shades and can be found at a variety of places online and in store. I’ve been wanting to try this one for a while. My friend from the gym was using this and every time I saw her with makeup her skin looked great and I finally pulled the plug and bought it. One & Done has the most “foundation” look and feel to it out of all three options, but feels like nothing on the skin after drying. I like that this is easily applied with my hands and I don’t have to bother getting a brush out unless I really want spend time doing my makeup. I would say the coverage is on par with the other two. Slightly blurring out the sun spots on my cheekbones, but not entirely covering blemishes which get some extra concealer. Urban Decay One & Done is oil-free and also has SPF 20 in it. It also has the added benefit of peptides and vitamins for healthier looking skin over time.

$36 each, six shades, oil-free. Can be found at ULTA, Sephora, and UrbanDecay.com

As you can tell, I’m not trying to hide my skin, I’m just trying to have it look it’s best! Sometimes you just want a little evening out and to feel fresh faced. I like the Pixi beauty one because it feels very hydrating on the skin and is the most affordable. I like the Colorescience Whipped Foundation because their skincare is phenomenal and I know it’s protecting it the most. Urban Decay’s One & Done has the best “nothing on your skin” feel to it which makes this one stand out. So each is great for their own reasons!

  1. I love that you explained what makes each one special. The Pixi is the only one I’ve tried. I like a lightweight foundation more now as I age than I did when I was younger.

  2. These all have great formulas, I just wish they had better shade ranges! I can’t wear anything from these 3 lines without adding at least 50% white.

  3. I like my coverage to be about medium, and I stick with that most of the year. That said, I’ve been wanting to check out a light coverage option for the days I need a little something but don’t want a makeup look so your post is perfectly timed! Thanks for the suggestions!

  4. Travis let me get something for my birthday from Sephora so I could get my birthday gift and I ALMOST bought the Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done because of your Instagram post. I went with the new Mascara set they have since I’ll be doing a good bit of traveling in the near future but the next time he lets me get something I’m SO jumping on that one!

  5. These sound like nice things for days out and about where you want a lil something but not full face because you are just out hiking with friends or exploring some outdoor-y thing! 🙂 I always feel weird using full coverage on those days, but also want something!
