Getting Ready With HiMirror Plus

HiMirror Plus review by iliketotalkblogSmart Beauty Technology

Post Sponsored through the Primp Network.

Being a work from home mom has definitely taken some getting used to, but being a work from home mom to a toddler is something on a whole new level! I’ve gotta keep one eye on her 24/7 or else she’ll end up grabbing something off the counter or dancing on top of the dining table! Fortunately for me, the HiMirror Plus lets me centralize where I need to be in the house to make sure that I can get ready for the day and still keep an eye on my daughter.

himirror plus review by iliketotalkblogI’d like to think I’m up to date on technology (for the most part), but hearing that a Smart Beauty Mirror existed was exciting and intriguing. Did I need one? How could it help me? What I’ve come to learn over the past few weeks is that it could be helpful to me in several ways.

I’m a big fan of exploring different skincare products to figure out what works best for me. With the HiMirror Plus, not only can I analyze my skin on a weekly basis in several ways (pore size, texture, darks spots, wrinkles, etc), but I can build a snapshot history of all the skincare readings my smart mirror has taken. And talk about techy! I also have the HiSkin device that helps analyze moisture and pigmentation levels so I can really get an in depth look at the products I need for my skin. This handheld device is just held against the skin following prompts given to you on the mirror screen and it does all the calculations for you.

I decided to set this mirror up right smack dab in the middle of my home — which meant the dining to open living room space. My major motivation is so that I’m able to get ready in the mornings without worry of what my toddler is doing in the other room. Toddlers can be very quiet and have quick hands and I’d like to not have my house destroyed while “mommy was doing her makeup”.

Mounting the mirror was easy and setup was done with a quick QR code reading. There is also a stand you can get separately that allows you to rest the mirror on your vanity instead of mounting.  I was pretty surprised how well a mirror could read my hand signals and waves to turn it from one screen to the next. They actually have a remote coming out really soon that give you another easy option to control the mirror. I easily “log in” to my account with a simple face recognition tool with the help of the built in HD camera.  If I choose to keep the mirror powered on throughout the day I get a weather and temperature reading, or I can stream music if I choose.

Depending on the time of the day when I get ready, I can also choose to use HiMirror’s ambient LED lighting to help me get ready no matter how dark, or how early it is.  I also like that it has the ability to zoom in when you’re really trying to get that eye liner perfected.

I’m most curious to see what kind of skincare analysis readings I will get in future months as I continue to track my skin and products. I enjoy tracking information like this and seeing where it steers me in the future. I’m hoping it will teach me some things about the products I am using and if I should stay the course or try something new.

Coola Mineral LipLux

Coola Suncare Mineral LipLux Review and Swatches by iliketotalkblogIt doesn’t matter what day of the week it is, I always feel like I need something on my lips. And being that I live near the beach and the sun it always shining on us, I like to keep my lips protected when I can. Lately, I’ve been reaching for Coola Mineral LipLux and only wish I had more!

Coola’s line of luxury sun and skincare products are cruelty free, and made using organic ingredients whenever possible. Not only that, they try to use locally sourced and sustainable ingredients to stay as environmentally-friendly as possible while still producing some of the very best sun protection out there today.

The Coola Mineral LipLux line has six shades of slightly tinted lip protection that offer SPF 30 broad spectrum protection. Instead of using chemical sunscreens, these use physical sunscreens like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide . The formula features over 70% organic ingredients and has the ability to soften and smooth the lips while fending off the harmful rays of the sun. I love a good lip product that’s packed with healthy butters and LipLux fits the bill with an ingredient list that includes organic Shea butter, organic Coconut oil, organic Cupuacu butter and organic Mongongo butter.

My daughter is at an age where she wants to do everything I do, so when mama puts on lip balm, little Zoe needs some too. Then we both smack our lips together to make sure it’s on, haha. It’s much cuter when she does it than when I do it. Because the color is very minimal, I don’t mind and like that we have this fun little thing we do together.

Nude Beach is the perfect “your lips but better” with a slight shade of soft pink. It imparts just enough color for me to feel put together with a little bit of foundation or tinted moisturizer and mascara. While the description on the website says this has a caramel flavor to it, I’d say it is very light and has a subtle sweetness to it.

Skinny Dip is a sheer nude – like, super sheer nude. I’d have to say after doing some googling that it must be the lightest color of the bunch and gives the lips a soft, healthy sheen. Skinny dip is said to have an Earl Gray Tea flavor which I also find to be very light and unobtrusive to those with super sensitive noses.

You do still need to reapply often as they aren’t like a long-lasting lipstick – but honestly who doesn’t mind swiping on a smoothing lip treatment several times a day. I’ll swipe all day long!

I definitely think that I might have to add a couple more colors to my collection since I enjoy them so much, like Summer Crush (a deep pink) and Tan line (a coral shade).

Each tube retails for $18 and can be purchased online directly from the Coola website or through ULTA. To find out more about how awesome the brand Coola is, you can visit their Facebook or Instagram page and drool over their products with me!

Claré Blanc Mineral Makeup

Heathy Makeup For All Skin Types

Over the past six years I have grown my makeup collection by leaps and bounds. I love that I get to try all sorts of different products and explore brands that I might not have known about before blogging. When I first started blogging, one thing that I did start using a lot of was mineral makeup. I found that it was a healthy makeup option for my then acne-prone skin. Since then, I have branched out to try different types of makeup but recently became acquainted with mineral makeup again through the brand, Claré Blanc.

clare blanc mineral makeup review by iliketotalkblog You may wonder what’s the deal with mineral makeup and what makes it different. For one, it’s free of synthetic ingredients and made from ground up rocks. Sounds a bit crazy, but because it’s made from finely milled rocks, and free of potential irritants like talc, fragrances or parabens, mineral makeup can help skin look and feel better. By eliminating many of the fillers that other types of makeup use to help create their own unique formulas, those with sensitive or acne prone skin can experiment more with less worry. Luckily, my skin has normalized since my acne days so I can use all types of makeup, but I always love going back to a favorite.

Claré Blanc allowed me to choose whatever items I wanted to try so I had the opportunity to put together a look using things I’d actually be interested in. I decided to go with a pressed foundation and concealer, a luminizer, a blush and bronzer, an eyeliner and some shadows.

The Dream Pressed Foundation come in a large array of shades, and if you have any trouble figuring out your color they are happy to help assist you. I chose one that was a bit light for me, but luckily was still blendable enough to not be a problem. I used my IT Cosmetics Heavenly Skin Smoothing Complexion Brush #704 and it worked perfectly to pick up enough powder and apply on the skin.

I found that I preferred a nice matte blush in Charming since I was pairing it with a Luminizing Powder in Cashmere. I basically used the luminizing powder just about everywhere because I loved it so much. The perfect highlighting power for brow bones, cheekbones, center of the eyelids and cupid’s bow. The bronzer in Rocka Locka gives just enough color to sculpt the hollows of the cheekbones without looking muddy or dirty.

clare blanc mineral makeup review by iliketotalkblogI’m not one to know how to use 5 colors on the eye and make something fantastic. I definitely keep it simple with 2-3 colors. One all over the lid (in lavender ice, a smoky, frosty lavender) and Demure, a shimmery brown-violet in the crease. I lined my eyes with perfect black with a stiff chisel eye liner brush.

The Eye Flash Concealer was something I thought was unique. It has brightening qualities to it and while it’s marketed to be used in the under eye area, I found it worked really nicely in the inner corners of the eyes better for me.

You have to be careful with loose powders because one wrong move can create a mess. Luckily Claré Blanc has little sieve stoppers in the containers to control the amount of product dispensed at the top of the jar. Also, a little goes a long way, so when you pick up the powder, make sure to do a tap, tap on the jar lid to remove excess color. You can always go back and add more if needed! I found that the colors I chose blended together very nicely and sat well on my skin.

To find out more about Claré Blanc you can visit their website and see what they have in stock. They also have a fresh Instagram account so head on over there and give them a little love!
