Moisturize Your Skin With MultiVitaSkin

multivitaskin review by iliketotalkblogEven though I don’t deal with icy weather living in Southern California, I still need to make sure my skin is properly moisturized during the winter months. Indoor heat and sometimes windy weather can leave skin feeling tight and parched. There is only so much water can do before some skincare intervention is needed, and lately MultiVitaSkin has been my go to moisturizer for the past 5 weeks.

MultiVitaSkin prides itself on a few key points. For one, it’s formulated with quality, all natural ingredients and includes a unique Omega 3-6-9 oil blend that nourishes the skin promoting a smoother, more youthful appearance. This cream also uses the powerhouse ingredient resveratrol, a known polyphenol, that acts as an antioxidant fighting the signs of again, along with a combination of vitamins to keep the skin healthy and supple. I can detect the scent of cocoa butter in the formula, which I like and enjoyed using when I was pregnant and had a gigantic belly to soothe. Now that I’m a nursing mama, clean ingredients are important to me because anything I am using will come into contact with her. I suspect this would have been a great belly lotion to have handy during those months when your skin is stretching and starts to itch.

multivitaskin review by iliketotalkblogThe second thing that sets this brand apart is how affordable it is. It comes in a large no frills four ounce tub for just under $40. You guys, I’ve been using this moisturizing cream morning and night everyday for five weeks and I’ve only used about a quarter of the tub. I’ve also been applying it to the top of my hands each night and love how smooth they’ve been feeling since using this. I can expect this tub to last me anywhere from 4-5 months with the amount of usage I’m used to. And while the packaging is pretty basic, you can safely assume that less of what you spend is put into packaging and more into the ingredients and formulation of the actual product.

multivitaskin review by iliketotalkblogI’m always a bit leary of new moisturizers, especially from brands I am unfamiliar with, but MultiVitaSkin has impressed me thus far. Not only does it moisturize my skin well, my hands feel smoother, and it caused me no break outs which is always a concern with new products. There is no doubt that I am a sucker for pretty packaging, but if a product works well then really why am I worried about what the tub looks like. It works!

Highlight Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick

highlight cosmetics liquid lipstick review by iliketotalkblogiliketotalkalot iliketotalkblog reviewAlthough liquid lipsticks have made a comeback in the past year or so, it was only recently I started using them myself. I find most tend to be drying and leave my lips looking chapped and feeling uncomfortable. I’m a gloss girl at heart, but every once in awhile like to have a little bit of a bolder lip look and like how liquid lipsticks tend to stay put better than others out there. Lately I’ve been reaching for a liquid lipstick from Highlight Cosmetics.

Highlight Cosmetics specializes in long-lasting liquid lipsticks that not only stay put, but also nourish the lips so they don’t end up looking like they’ve had the life sucked out of them. This appeals to me in a number of ways because as a new mom, I for one, don’t have a lot of time to be re-applying lipsticks. Once it’s gone, it’s gone, and I hope it wears off nice and evenly so I don’t look ridiculous. Two, liquid lipsticks tend to dry out my lips to the point I have avoided most brands of them because it doesn’t matter how fancy the brand, my lips end up chapped, peely and looking bad. The Highlight Cosmetics brand uses turmeric to prevent the dry, chapped lip look, while peptides fight the formation of wrinkles, and tea extracts and safflower oil nourish the delicate skin of the lips.

There are ten shades available from this brand and I was sent “Terracotta Dream” which is a pinky, neutral lip color that could be used for an easy everyday look for me. I loved some of the bolder shades like “Pink Sapphire” and “Magenta Sunset” but felt that since my days are filled with diapers or swim class I’d save the fun colors for a time down the road.

highlight cosmetics liquid lipstick review by iliketotalkblogThe lipstick comes with a doe foot applicator that makes it easy to shape and fill in the lips. I like to go easy on the color with lipsticks in general so I wipe the applicator of excess and fill in my top lip, mash my lips together, and pat it out with my finger. I find this method gives me just enough color and doesn’t look heavy on my lips.

highlight cosmetics liquid lipstick review by iliketotalkblogSo how did this lipstick hold up? Pretty good for me drinking from a jug of water all day. Like I said, I’m not one to reapply so once it’s worn off, my lipstick hours are done for the day, and this one lasted me a good amount of hours before coming off. Pretty impressive for this super busy mommy. My lips never got that yucky chapped feeling and actually felt quite nice at the end of the day.

Each lippie retails for $25 each but I’ve seen they sometimes have discounts shared on their Instagram page.  To check out all the pretty colors from this brand you can visit their website, but I highly suggest visiting their Instagram to see swatches for true coloring

Colorsmash : Temporary Hair Color

colorsmash hair spray review by iliketotalkblogiliketotalkalot iliketotalkblog review

Back in my teen years I really went to town with lightening my hair. It was what I thought looked great on me and I continued to do it into my mid-twenties until I did a flip flop and switched to a deep dark glossy brown. In all those years I’ve wanted to have a little fun and try a “fun” color but never had the guts to get it done. When I was in school I was either doing dance or cheer so it wasn’t allowed, and by the time I was a working adult, I was in an office and that wouldn’t fly either. So you can imagine how giddy I was when I saw Gouldylox post a photo sporting a hot pink ombre using Colorsmash Temporary Hair Color.

This was finally my moment to try something fun because at this point in my career it doesn’t matter what I do to my hair. In beauty blogging, you can do just about anything in the name of “research” and share it with your readers so they can either Yay or Nay a product for themselves.

Colorsmash is a spray on hair color so you don’t need to worry about ridiculously messy jars of color destroying your bathroom, and comes in three colors: pink, violet and indigo. The formula is iron-oxide free, and uses a nutrient rich dye to coat vibrant fun colors to strands of hair or a full head. Aloe vera extract, grapeseed, and avocado are just a few of the healthy hair ingredients found in each can. It also offers UV protection. Depending on the health of your hair it will last you anywhere from 1-3 days and washes out with regular shampoo easily.

What I did discover, and should have realized beforehand was that this IS a hairspray– so it does have hold. I thought it was just spray in color, but it has hold to it so you can use this in one of two ways. A finishing spray after you’ve styled your hair, or a spray in and brush out for a softer color application. You will get the spray on your hands when using it, but it easily washed off with soap and water and I draped my shoulders with my bath towel that I was going to throw in the wash next to protect my skin and shirt.

I have long medium-brown hair with some lightened ends from a balayage I had done a almost two years ago. I found that the blonder your hair is, the best the color will show.  It also lasted the longest on those parts of my hair (I suspect because they are the most porous, or damaged parts of my hair.

I attempted to do strands of multiple colors for a mermaid-ish look which took some time and my six month old was not having it anymore so my experimenting got cut short. I also did just blue strands in various parts of my hair because I liked that color the most after seeing pictures of the product used. And lastly, I tried using pink and purple on my ends for an ombre effect.

After much experimenting, I found that pink and purple showed up best on my hair.  I did a few layers where I would spray in the color, let it dry, then brush it out and spray it again repeating the process. I found that spraying both the top and underneath produced the best color, and that I was not a pro at doing an ombre.

I was able to sleep with the color in my hair and not destroy our bed sheets, and loved how the colors peeked out from underneath for just a little bit of fun. I love how I was able to experiment with something different but able to wash it out and go about my business as usual. I could see myself using this again when the mood strikes which could be just about anytime I do my hair! Being a work at home mom means a lot of messy buns and target trips, not so much dressing up and looking “ready” to go out until it’s the weekend when my husband is home.
