Right around the same time Farmacy released their latest HA serum, they also surprised us with a new addition to their cleansing balm line and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I wasn’t expecting another scent to be added, but I am TOTALLY here for their limited edition Sweet Apple Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm. I often double cleanse, in fact, I almost do it every single evening to really get my skin clean to avoid breakouts that can easily pop up even being almost forty. So let’s dive in and see what this balm is all about.

If you arent familiar with double cleansing, it’s a great way to really remove any product left on your skin for earlier in the day — far better than just a traditional water-based cleanser in my opinion. I have some great cleansers in my arsenal, but stubborn sunscreens, foundations, and waterproof mascara are no match for a cleansing balm or oil. The oil gently breaks down these products as you massage your face and turns into a milky emulsion with the addition of water. Farmacy’s Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm has been a favorite go-to and definitely the one I have purchased the most often over the years over all others.

So what’s special about Farmacy’s Makeup Meltaway? First, let’s talk about the scent. Is it apple? Yes! Most definitely a fragrant apple scent — I think it smells like a green apple jolly rancher candy with the addition of apple extract. It’s not overpowering, but it is fragranced enough for you to enjoy the scent as you massage it into your skin. I remember the cherry version also having strong enough fragrance to make it more enjoyable to use and the original green one smells like faint lime to me. If you are sensitive to fragrances these all may be “too much” to handle but I think for most of us we enjoy the scent as it adds to the experience of using such an awesome product.

They also added a surprise touch to the color of the product too! When you open it, it’s a coral-pink in color but as you continue to scoop to the core you find a yellowish color similar to what you’d find in an apple!

I also like that this is in a tub, I do have some oil cleansers with a pump that work great, but I tend to portion out solid cleansing balm better and there is no risk of spill in case of something tipping over and is pressing against it in my beauty cabinets.

The formula generally stays the same across the board for all three versions of the makeup meltaway cleansing balm. Moringa seed oil is added for it’s ability to lift away dirt, grease, and grime with ease and also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to it to help calm the skin. Papaya is also included for its gentle exfoliation action viz enzymes (papain) that slough away dead skin cells that can clog our pores. But it doesn’t stop there — papaya is also a good source of vitamin A and C, two things that help with skin elasticity and has moisturizing properties to boot!

I appreciate that they offer their cleansing balm in a few sizes that will cost you anywhere from $22 to $58. If you usually prefer drugstore due to budget you can opt for the smaller travel size to see if it’s something you’d stick with or the traditional 3.4oz jar which lasts a good amount of time. They even have a jumbo size on the occasion that pops up at certain times of the year.

Farmacy Beauty Sweet Apple Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm is vegan, cruelty-free, silicone-free, and synthetic fragrance-free. You can pick it up at Farmacybeauty.com or Sephora.com — but don’t wait too long! Often, limited edition scents sell out and you have to wait for them to make another surprise batch to pounce on at a later date.

  1. Oh, what fun! If I didn’t already have the cherry as well as three other cleansing balms, I would buy this one in a flash. I love apple, and the two colors are so darn cute

  2. This looks good enough to eat. I love the colors. I do think the fragrance would be too strong for me but the smaller size would be a great way to try.
